Dominion Energy Charity Classic announces post-round concert with Chase Rice, discounted tickets
Richmond, VA (Richmond Times Dispatch) – The Dominion Energy Charity Classic golf tournament will bring country music artist Chase Rice to the Country Club of Virginia for a concert after the first round of this year’s tournament.
Rice will play on Friday, Oct. 18, with admission to that day’s golf good for the concert as well.
In conjunction with the announcement, the tournament is announcing 50 percent off Friday grounds admission, with tickets available for $17.50 for this week only.
“Every year, we get our group together and work to introduce new fan enhancements,” said executive director Steve Schoenfeld. “It’s been a recent trend at golf tournaments to incorporate a concert into the week, so we decided to take the plunge and bring Chase Rice in.”
Rice’s performance will include a military appreciation ceremony and will take place in the tournament’s fan zone, which will include craft beer and local food trucks.
The event will be billed as “Chase Rice Live! presented by Drive Shack,” the augmented-reality driving range opening this summer in Short Pump.
Rice’s best-known hit song is “Eyes on You,” and he opened for Kenny Chesney during his The Big Revival Tour.
The tournament will again serve as the first round of the PGA Tour Champions playoffs. Schoenfeld said the event has received praise from the golf world in its short existence.
“We couldn’t be happier with the reception Richmond has provided to the tournament since we got here three years ago,” he said. “We think it’s become an annual can’t-miss on the Richmond event calendar.”
This year’s tournament will be held during Oct. 18-20, with a pro-am and other events in the days leading up to the main event.
