Drive Shack Opening Soon in Richmond
Sports entertainment company Drive Shack will open its 65,000-square-foot Richmond facility in late summer, featuring three levels of climate controlled, private driving bays with augmented reality range games and virtual course play, and full-service restaurant and bar.
A social entertainment venue, Drive Shack offers more than just tech-forward golf. Expect 300-plus TVs to take in the latest sporting events, retro arcade games, a rooftop patio with views of the venue, and a restaurant and bar serving chef-driven dishes and craft cocktails. Drive Shack also hosts a range of special events including boozy brunches, live music, and themed holiday bashes.
The range boasts 96 private driving bays where players can socialize, dine and partake in a range of games in a climate-controlled space. Players can take a swing at one of Drive Shack's proprietary interactive games, earning points by hitting virtual targets in games like Monster Hunt or ShackJack. More avid golfers can also practice their shot, virtually, on real golf courses like Wyoming's Teton Pines.
As Drive Shack gears up for Richmond's late-summer opening, it's beginning the hiring process for 300 positions—and the job interviews will be far from typical.
In the spirit of Drive Shack's spotlight on games and entertainment, the hiring events will include interactive games in the vein of Mad Libs and Connect Four. There will also be a Lego- themed activity, a relay challenge, and investigative play, where applicants must use clues to solve various problems. After the games portion of the interview process, each applicant will have a one-on-one interview with a Drive Shack manager.
The games serve a purpose: They are designed to help promote a diverse workforce and objectively gauge an individual’s natural skill set. Games are aligned with Drive Shack positions and help guide the recruitment team in helping place candidates in the roles best suited for them.
"We've developed an interview process that will not only help us get the talent we need but ensure we place them in the right role," said Drive Shack CEO Ken May.
Drive Shack Richmond will be hosting the hiring events at its facility—located at 1647 Four Rings Drive in Goochland—starting July 22 and continuing through August 14. Drive Shack will be hiring for both full- and part-time roles, and positions range from servers and bartenders to line cooks and bussers to guest services and more. Interested applicants can sign up for the events at www.driveshack.com/careers or on Facebook at @driveshackcareers.
"We're excited to open in Richmond and to be adding 300 more members to the Drive Shack family," May said. "Our goal is to provide every guest who comes to Drive Shack with a fun and memorable experience, and our team is essential in achieving this. They're what makes Drive Shack special."
The company offers competitive wages and perks through its employee benefits program, including free golf play and lessons, discounts on Drive Shack merchandise and 50 percent off dining. The company also offers flexible work hours to accommodate students' schedules.
Drive Shack's first venue opened in Orlando, Fla., in 2018. In addition to Drive Shack Richmond, the company will be launching new venues this summer in Raleigh, N.C., and West Palm Beach, Fla. For more information, visit driveshack.com.
